TMJ or Temporomandibular Joint Disorder. This affects the joints in
front of the ears that are hinges for your jaw. If one of these hinges
becomes infected then the jaw becomes swollen and it is extremely
painful. TMJ is caused by the tightness of the jaw muscles; you can get
TMJ from grinding your teeth as well. Anything that causes stress to
the jaw may result in TMJ. You may have trouble biting and trouble
chewing because of the TMJ.
