Welcome to Pain.com!
Pain is a subjective term just as happy and hot are. Wouldn't you agree? For example, someone in our office always turns the air conditioner up because it's too "cold." Soon, someone else turns the A/C down because it's too hot! One day, the poor thing is just going to quit on us.
Similarly, what one person considers painful may just be uncomfortable to another. The problem with a subjective term is that it makes it difficult to communicate to others what you mean. One of our goals is to help patients and healthcare providers have better conversations. To do that, we are creating resources that help patients better understand their conditions, treatment plans, or treatment options. Providers can also use these resources when working with their patients.
But, we need your help! What conditions or pain categories would you like to see on Pain.com? Are there specific treatments you'd like to know more about? Send us your thoughts. We encourage our healthcare professionals to also submit resources they use with their patients. Or, if you have information that can help your colleagues provide better care, submit that as well.
We hope you are enjoying the changes occurring on Pain.com, and we welcome your ideas and feedback. Until next time.
