Musculoskeletal pain is a pain that affects the muscles, ligaments and tendons and including the bones. They almost have the same symptoms as arthritis. But the muscles can be affected with day-to-day movement and other activities.  There may be some trauma to the affected area from maybe a car accident, fall, fractures, sprains and even direct hits to the area. These traumas can be the cause of the pain as well. Even posture and body mechanics can be the cause of the pains.

A change in posture may really cause some wear and tear on the bones and the tissues. Pain like these can be managed but only surgery can change the bones and tissues back to the way they were. Some of the symptoms for Musculoskeletal pain are the entire body aches, the muscles may twitch and you may feel some burning in the muscles. But the three main symptoms are overall pain, fatigue and sleep disturbances.

You can be diagnosed with Musculoskeletal pain by having a complete physical exam by your doctor. They may want to perform some other diagnostic treatments as well to be sure. Once diagnosed there are different types of treatments available. There are manual therapy or mobilization therapies. Your doctors may treat the pain with injections, or with anti-inflammatory medicines; they may prescribe some physical or occupation therapy, acupuncture and even therapeutic massage.

Everyone is different so the treatments of course will be different depending on the person and their level of pain they are in. The first step is to get your self-diagnosed and along with your doctor you can discuss the form of treatment that will work best for you. There may be exercises that you may have to do for an extended period of time.

The key is to work out the muscles and retrain them to go back into place. They may become traumatized by an accident or by a fall or over the years, if you have had a slight shift in your posture then it may cause this pain as well. Musculoskeletal pain is pretty common than you might have thought. In one form or another, some people have a more severe case than others so the treatment will of course vary by patient.
