Lower back pain can either be categorized as acute or chronic pain. Either way they can each be a crippling condition. Lower back pain is so common that almost every person will experience some type of pain in his or her lifetime. It is also noted that lower back pain is the most common reason why people take a leave of absence from work. If you experience acute lower back pain, it may be caused by a traumatic event such as a car accident or maybe a slip and fall. The acute pain happens very suddenly and it will be easy to tell exactly where the pain is. It is most common when you suffer from the acute lower back pain that it is the soft tissues such as the muscles and the ligament and tendons are at risk. If the injury is serious enough there may be some fractures in the lumbar spine.

Chronic back pain has a slower onset. It may happen over a longer period of time. Chronic condition occurs through disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis, degeneration of the discs located in the vertebrae or the spinal disc hernia. Tumors can also be a cause of chronic lower back pain. Those we just listed as forms of physical causes of lower back pain. There are emotional or psychological pains involved such as the condition of TMS or Tension Myositis Syndrome.

There are many causes of lower back pain such as Spinal Stenosis, Fractures, Menisciod Occlusions, Difference in Leg Length, Misaligned Coxis, Apophyseal Osteoarthritis, Infection, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Bone Tumors, Spinal Tumors, Depression, Osteoporptic Fractures and Paget’s Disease. There are many different types of lower back pain and depending on how you received the injury and whether your pain is chronic or acute is how you will be treated. The diagnosis is the first step to treatment.
