There is no real way to tell if someone is going to be an addict. Some times heredity plays a part, if you have an addict in your family then chances are some one else may become one as well. People who experience depression, anxiety and loneliness are said to be people at risk to be addicted to some drug or another. That is not to say that everyone who has taken pain medication has become addicted because that would not be true. The important part of medication is to take exactly what the doctor prescribed to you, not a pill more and not a pill less.
There are different ways in which to treat pain. There are medications and then there are treatments you can get to ease pain without taking any medication. Let’s start with over the counter medications; these are pain relievers that do not require a doctor’s prescription. These types of pain relievers are Acetaminophen such as Tylenol and Aspirin Free Excedrin. There is a pain reliever called Nonsteroidal anti inflammation drugs such as aspirin, Motrin, Aleve and Orudis KT. These are pain relievers that do not contain any steroids at all. Then you have the topical corticosteroids such as creams like Cortaid and Cortisone.
Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are among the most commonly prescribed categories of drugs worldwide in the treatment of pain and inflammation in many conditions. NSAIDs are used primarily to treat inflammation, mild to moderate pain, and fever. Specific uses include the treatment of headaches, arthritis, sports injuries, and menstrual cramps.
